6th Corozal Methodist Scout Group Holds Investiture Ceremony
An Investiture ceremony for Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts from the 6th Corozal Methodist Scout Group took place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Corozal Town.
The event was attended by parents, members of the parent committee, representatives from the Belize Scout Foundation, including Fernando Oliva, President of the Scout Association, Ovid Rancharan, Director of Support Services, and Lucia Cituk, National Training Commissioner.
The ceremony began with a welcome address, followed by a song performed by the entire group, accompanied by guitars and Garifuna drums.
During the official investiture, Beaver Scouts and Scouts made their promise in front of the audience. An investiture ceremony is a significant event where recruits make their Scout Promise. A Cub Scout is welcomed into the Cubs, becoming a member of the Pack and the worldwide Scout family, while a Scout is welcomed into the Scout Unit, joining the global Scout community.
Though investitures are meaningful events, they don’t have to be formal or intimidating. There is no single way to conduct an investiture ceremony; as long as the main components—welcome, Promise, and scarf—are included, the format can be adjusted to suit the occasion.
Fernando Oliva, President of the Scout Association, delivered the keynote address. The Most Honourable Sir Colville N. Young, Patron of the Scout Foundation, contributed to the event with a beautiful musical performance on the keyboard. Hilberto B. Riverol, the Executive Director of the Scout Foundation, accompanied Sir Colville.
The Belize Scout Foundation congratulates the new members of the 6th Corozal Methodist Scout Group and the adult volunteer elements that make Scouting possible at the Corozal Methodist School. Gwendolyn Monima is the Group Scout Leader.
