The Ice Bucket Challenge

What is the Ice Bucket Challenge?

The Ice Bucket Challenge was a viral fundraising campaign that raised millions for research on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2014. The challenge has since been reimagined by millions around the world, now focusing on mental health awareness.

Participants, just as in 2014, pour ice water over themselves, post videos of their challenge, and nominate others to join in. This initiative aims to raise awareness and promote education about mental health.

Kudos to the 27th Cayo Santa Elena Jaguar Scouts for taking up the challenge from the 37th Cayo Belmopan Phoenix Scout Group!

Constructive Dialogue between the Leadership of the Scout Foundation and the Scout Association

On April 29, 2025, a significant meeting was held between the Scout Foundation and the Scout Association. Key leaders from both organizations convened to explore strategies aimed at advancing the association, with the backing of the Scout Foundation. This initiative represents a crucial step in enhancing the future of Scouting and its programs.

To provide much-needed support for the association, the Foundation will work together with the Association to reorganize a Scout raffle that is on hold. Additionally, the Foundation plans to review the association’s current budget and explore options for improving its financial sustainability. Regarding adult training, the Foundation will leverage its resources to ensure that leaders receive high-quality, up-to-date training, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to effectively guide young people in Scouting. Furthermore, the Foundation and the Association have agreed to revisit the existing memorandum of understanding between the two organizations.

Follow-up meetings and improved collaboration between both management teams will be held to ensure effective implementation of the decision.
