BSF Chairman Visits Construction Site

Dr. Rene Villanueva, Chairman of the Belize Scout Foundation (BSF) accompanied by Mr. Francis Woods, Chairman of the SAB Building Sub-Committee, and Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol. SAB’s Executive Director visited the construction site of the Sir Colville N. Young Building on March 5, 2021 to assess the construction of the building under construction.  Joining the tour was Mr. Rene Villanueva Jr., General Manager for LOVE FM.

Mr. Woods gave the visiting team a tour of the building under construction while updating them on work completed and highlighting the pending work which has slowed down as the building nears completion.

Dr. Villanueva is pleased with the advancement of the work and is hopeful that The Scout Association of Belize (SAB) agree with the Memorandum of Understanding between the BSF and SAB before the handing over of the building.

The MOU aims to adequately put safeguards in place for securing and protecting the assets (land and building) for perpetuity and to prevent the deterioration of the value of the building that will carry Governor-General, Sir Colville N. Young’s name.

Methodist Church Delegation Visits Construction Site

On Wednesday February 24, 2021 a small delegation from the Methodist Church headed by Reverend C. David Goff visited the construction site of the Sir Colville N. Young Building at the invitation of Dr. Rene Villanueva, Chairman of the Belize Scout Foundation (BSF).

The visit was arranged to discuss the possibility of reaching an agreement to allow the BSF to use a portion of land property of the Methodist Church for parking space for the Sir Colville N. Young Building.

Executive Director of the BSF met Rev. Goff and his delegation upon arrival followed by the arrival of the Chairman, Dr. Villanueva who proceeded with a guided tour of the building under construction.

Following the tour of the building, the discussions were amicable and the request for the use of the portion of land requested for parking was approved by Rev Goff.

Following this successful request from the BSF to the Methodist Church, on March 5, 2021 the BSF through its building committee chairman Mr. Francis Woods started filling the additional piece of land to convert it into parking space for the Sir Colville N. Young Building.
