**Corozal Scouts Participate in Remembrance Day Ceremony and Parade**

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, the Corozal Scouts paid tribute to military veterans who fought and died in the First and Second World Wars by participating in the Remembrance Day Ceremony and Parade.

Belize celebrates this event annually to honor the sacrifices of Belizeans who served in the British Army in various capacities.

Countries around the world commemorate this day at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of November, marking the signing of the armistice that ended World War One in 1918.

This year, the local tradition of observing Remembrance Day on the Sunday closest to November 11 was followed, with the ceremony on November 10.

Release of Guitar Song Book for Scouts

Release of Guitar Song Book for Scouts

On March 10, 2021, Sir Colville N. Young, the Patron of the Belize Scout Foundation, graciously received five guitars as a gift from Mr. Arun Huchandani, the Honorary Consul General of India. That same day, the guitars were presented to four different Scout groups.

In his presentation on behalf of the Foundation, Sir Colville emphasized that the guitars are intended to help prepare the Scouts for meaningful programs that will contribute to their development, particularly in music and entertainment.

The four Scout groups that each received a guitar are:

  • 28th Belize Ebenezer Scout Group
  • 11th Corozal Mary Hill Scout Group
  • 27th Cayo Santa Elena Jaguars Scout Group
  • 8th Toledo San Pedro Colombia Scout Group

It was agreed that the fifth guitar would be presented to an active Scout group selected by the Scout Association.

Since then, additional guitars have been gifted to the 11th Mary Hill Scout Group and the 6th Methodist Scout Group, both from the Corozal District, with a promise of a songbook featuring local folk and popular songs to complement the use of the guitars.

Today, the Foundation is pleased to announce the release of its Guitar Song Book for Scouts. Each Scout group that received a guitar will receive a copy of this songbook.

The songbook was published by Hilberto B. Riverol, Executive Director of the Belize Scout Foundation, as requested by Sir Colville. It was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Dr. Rene R. Villanueva and Sir Colville N. Young GCMG.
