Small grant for summer camp presented to the Orange Walk Buffalo Scouts

A small grant of $500 was presented to the Orange Walk Buffalo Scouts for their summer camp. The grant was presented on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, by Dr. Erasmo Franklin, Director and member of the Finance and Investment Sub-committee of the Belize Foundation. The grant was received by Mrs. Elodia Bautista, Cub Scout Leader for the 23rd Orange Walk Buffalo Scout Group.

Dr. Franklin expressed the Foundation’s happiness in contributing to the group’s summer camp. In accepting the funds, Mrs. Bautista thanked the Foundation and stated that the $500 grant would help the group organize an attractive and educational summer program for the Scouts.

During the ceremony, District Commissioner Mr. Mario Puck presented two copies of the Buffalo Group annual reports for 2019 – 2022 and 2022 – 2023 to Dr. Rene Villanueva, Chairman of the Foundation. Both reports include activities conducted during the reporting period and a financial report. Dr. Villanueva commended the group for being accountable and transparent and remarked that other groups should follow this example. Dr. Erasmo Franklin was also presented with the group’s t-shirt.

The 23rd Orange Walk Buffalo Scout Group, established on March 22, 2019, will receive another $500 grant in September this year to recognize their current achievements. The Buffalo Scouts expect Chairman Villanueva and other Directors of the Foundation to visit the group during their planned event that month.

Cub Scout Leader Bautista was accompanied by some members of the Scout Group and Orange Walk District Scout Commissioner, Mr. Mario Puck. Dr. Franklin, who presented the grant funds, was accompanied by Dr. Rene R. Villanueva, Chairman of the Foundation, Walther Campos, Director, and Hilberto B. Riverol, Executive Director.

The 43rd World Scout Conference is scheduled to take place from August 17 to 23, 2024 in Cairo, Egypt. Delegates from Member Organizations representing 175 countries will attend. This will mark the first in-person Conference since 2017, providing an excellent opportunity for Scouts to reconnect, collaborate, exchange ideas, and strengthen unity.

The Conference program promises to be exciting and inspiring, featuring thought-provoking plenary sessions and enlightening keynote speeches from prominent leaders. Participants will have the chance to engage in interactive workshops and gatherings, promoting collaboration, learning, and innovation, while also exploring dynamic exhibition spaces showcasing the latest advancements and initiatives in Scouting.

The Belize Scout Foundation is proud to announce its support for the participation of Mr. Fernando Oliva, President of the Scout Association of Belize. Today, July 2, 2024, Oliva received a grant of $2,000.00 to assist with his registration fee from the Chairman of the Foundation, Dr. Rene R. Villanueva. Present for the presentation was the Executive Director, Hilberto B. Riverol. The Foundation extends its best wishes for his engaging and fruitful participation.
