“23rd Orange Walk Buffalo Scout Group Secures Grant to Elevate Its Image”

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the Buffalo Scouts from Orange Walk celebrated a significant milestone. Mr. Del Martin, Director of the Belize Scout Foundation, made a purposeful visit to Crooked Tree to engage with the Buffalo Scouts, who were actively participating in a weekend camp.

Joining Mr. Martin were Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol, the Executive Director of the Foundation, and Mr. Wilfredo Majano, Chief Scout and acting President of the Scout Association. Upon their arrival at the camping grounds, they were promptly welcomed by Mrs. Elodia Bautista, the Buffalo Group Scout Leader, and Mr. Mario Puck, District Scout Commissioner for the Orange Walk District.

Following a concise discussion and introductions of the camp staff, the Scout Group convened for a key moment: the presentation of a $1,000.00 check, designated to procure a group flag, banner, and scarves. These items are essential for enhancing the Scouts’ visibility during events and parades.

While presenting the check to the group leader, Mr. Martin conveyed the Foundation’s commitment to empowering the group with resources that will significantly enhance their image and facilitate member recruitment.

In a show of recognition, Mr. Martin received a certificate appointing him as an honorary member of the Buffalo Scout Group. Mr. Mario Puck then presented the Group Scarf, formally designating Mr. Martin as an honorary member. Mr. Martin expressed his sincere gratitude for this esteemed acknowledgment.

Furthermore, Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol and Mr. Wilfredo Majano were awarded certificates of appreciation, underscoring their steadfast support for the group.

Following the presentations, the guests enjoyed a delightful lunch prepared by dedicated parents supporting the group camp. The fried chicken and fried rice were exceptional, adding to the festive atmosphere.

As the visitors concluded their time at the camp, they extended their appreciation to the leaders and parents for their invaluable support of the Scout group.

“Cub Scouts Recruits’ First Overnight Camp”

On the weekend of May 16 and 17, 2026, the 11th Corozal Mary Hill Cub Scouts embarked on an exciting journey by participating in their first overnight camp at the Mary Hill School grounds. This camp was an essential step in fulfilling the requirements for their upcoming investiture as Cub Scouts. The event was expertly organized by Venture Scout Dylian Gongora, who is working towards achieving the Venture Scout Award.

Cub Scouts are young individuals aged 7 to 11 who harness their curiosity about the world. During their time in Cub Scouts, they engage in numerous enjoyable activities—going on adventures, making friends, learning new skills, exploring new experiences, helping others, and contributing positively to their communities.

The Cubs meet every week in a group known as a Cub Pack, where they participate in activities in small color-coded groups of six. While the specific activities may differ, the Cubs are always encouraged to set goals and work collaboratively, ensuring that they not only learn but also enjoy themselves in the process.

This camp provided the new Cub Scouts with a wonderful opportunity to acclimate to sleeping away from home as they began working toward their Camper Badge. Additionally, this weekend marked an important transition for our group, allowing us to honor the achievements of the older Cubs as they moved on to the Scout Unit, while also welcoming our new Beavers into the Scouting family.

Throughout the camp, the pack engaged in a variety of fun and interactive activities that highlighted key values such as teamwork, creativity, active listening, and leadership. These experiences laid a strong foundation as we confidently prepare for the official investiture of our new members, ensuring they are well-equipped for their journey ahead.
