Guitars gifted to four Scout Groups

Guitars gifted to four Scout Groups

At its meeting of the Belize Scout Foundation (BSF) on February 13, 2021, Sir Colville informed the directors that he will work along with Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol and his son Ambassador Lynn Young to publish a local folk songs book for the Scouts of Belize.

Following this meeting, Sir Colville graciously received five guitars, a gift from Mr. Arun Huchandani, Honorary Consul General of India, and found it most fitting to give these five guitars to five different Scout groups so that the Scouts can learn to play the guitars in preparation of the publishing of the song book since a popular activity at camps is camp fires where singing takes place.

Sir Colville also pointed out that the guitars will also prepare the Scouts towards meaningful programs that will contribute to their development, particularly in music and entertainment.

Four groups represented at the handing over ceremony received a guitar each from Sir Colville as follows:

28th Belize Ebenezer Scout Group
11th Corozal Mary Hill Scout Group
27th Cayo Santa Elena Jaguars Scout Group
8th Toledo San Pedro Colombia Scout Group
The 5th guitar will be presented to an active Scout Group selected by the Scout Association.

As part of the handing over program entertainment was provided by Brad Pat & Da Suh IH Guh’ Folk Ensemble with numerous local folk songs including one composed by Sir Colville.

The ceremony was organized by Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol, Executive Director of the BSF at the request of Sir Colville, Governor-General of Belize and Patron of the BSF.

play-sharp-fill

Earth Hour is the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment. It engages millions of people around the world to take action for positive environmental impact. It starts with a symbolic way to show support for our planet by switching off our lights, but Earth Hour goes far beyond that. It’s an opportunity for you to start changing the planet for the better, and for all of us to work together to protect and restore nature.

On 27 March from 8:30 PM in your local time zone, it’s time to switch off and #Connect2Earth
