Another Scout Song – Words by Sir Colville N. Young, music by Chuchin Acosta

Sir Colville N. Young has demonstrated a passion in his belief that Scouting is the solution to the many ills facing our beautiful Belize.  In 1994 when he was approached to be the Patron of The Scout Association of Belize, without hesitation he accepted the challenge and from that point on until his recent retirement as Patron of the Association, he never shied away from his responsibilities as Patron.

During his time as Patron, he wrote a song for the Scouts of Belize entitled “Boy Scouts of the World” which was first sung by Jamie Humes, a member of the 9th Belize St. Ignatius Cub Scout Pack at the song festival of the first-ever International Cub Scout Encounter held in El Salvador in 1998. The song won first place.

Although no longer Patron of The Scout Association of Belize, his heart remains with them and he has now written a second song entitled “The Scout”.

The song was recorded on October 6, 2021, at his residence in Ladyville and will be presented to The Scout Association shortly, after which it will be released.

Present at the recording were Diana Ireland, Dr. Villanueva’s personal assistance, Mr. Fernando Oliva, President of the Scout Association, and Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol, Executive Director for the Belize Scout Foundation.
