A short but historic ceremony was held on June 13, 2022, in the Sir Colville N. Young Museum in connection with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Belize Scout Foundation and The Scout Association of Belize.
A building valued at 1.5 million dollars was gifted to The Scout Association of Belize upon the signing of the MOU which outlined 10 areas of cooperation between both parties.
Signing on behalf of the Foundation were Chairman Dr. Rene Villanueva, Secretary Mr. Ryan Wrobel, and Mr. Francis (Cisco) Woods. On behalf of The Scout Association were President Mr. Fernando Oliva, Director of Operations and Institutional Development Mr. Ashton Nicholas, and Venture Scout Mr. Tahj Reid
The Scout Association has now become the owner of a building valued at over 1.5 million dollars raised by the Foundation through the generous grants received from the Baron Bliss Trust, the Government, and the People of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and the efforts and monetary contributions from Directors of the Foundation and other public and private donors.
The building has been named “The Sir Colville N. Young Building” home of Scouting in Belize, after Former Governor-General Sir Colville N. Young who served as Patron of The Scout Association from 1994 to 2022. Sir Colville remains the Patron of the Belize Scout Foundation.

Memorandum Of Understanding Between BSF and SAB

Memorandum of Understanding between the Belize Scout Foundation and The Scout Association of Belize
In late 2018 the Belize Scout Foundation agreed to construct a building for The Scout Association that they could call their home. Under the Chairmanship of Dr. Rene Villanueva, the Foundation took up the challenge with a zero balance in the building account. The Scout Association years earlier had started a building fund which had six thousand plus dollars which were handed over to the Foundation as seed money to start the building project.
Fast forward to early 2021 and the Sir Colville N. Young Building, home of Scouting in Belize was completed. The Foundation drafted a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Foundation and The Scout Association which upon acceptance and signing by both parties, the building would be GIFTED to The Association.
This MOU has been on the table for over a year and now, finally, it will be signed on Monday, June 13, 2022. Once signed, the Scout Association will become the owner of a building valued at over 1.5 million dollars raised by the Foundation through the generous grants received from the Baron Bliss Trust, the Government, and the People of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and the efforts and monetary contributions from Directors of the Foundation and other public and private donors.
