23rd Orange Walk Buffalo Scout Group: 3rd Investiture Ceremony
The 23rd Orange Walk Buffalo Scout Group has made significant progress since its founding on March 22, 2019. On January 11, 2025, the group celebrated its 3rd investiture ceremony at St. Peters Church in Orange Walk Town, now consisting of a full complement of Cub Scouts, Scouts, and Venture Scouts.
Distinguished guests included Sir Colville Young, former Governor-General of Belize and Patron of the Belize Scout Foundation; Hilberto B. Riverol, Executive Director; and Alejandro Tovar, Publicity and Website support staff, who all represented the Scout Foundation at this momentous occasion for the Buffalo Scouts.
A guard of honor formed by the Scouts greeted guests as they arrived, and everyone present sang the national anthem of Belize, followed by a prayer at the start of the program.
The investiture ceremony proceeded, during which the Cub Scouts, Scouts, and Venture Scouts recited their Scout promise, creating an atmosphere filled with pride and accomplishment.
As part of the program, Sir Colville presented the group with a copy of the recently printed Scout Guitar Song Book. This was followed by a musical performance on the keyboard, where the Scouts sang along to cheerful tunes.
The guest speaker, Chief Scout of Belize, Wilfredo Majano, congratulated the Scouts on their achievements and commended the leaders for their dedication. Fernando Oliva, President of the Scout Association of Belize, accompanied him.
Representing the Orange Walk district were District Scout Commissioner, Mario Puck, and Senior Field Executive for the Orange Walk District, Ricardo Alcoser.
The Scout Leader, Daniel Flores, delivered the vote of thanks, and the master of ceremonies was Osmair Henry, principal of St. Peters School and sponsor of the Buffalo Scout Group.
The Belize Scout Foundation is pleased to have provided financial support for the ceremony.
