“Belize Scout Foundation Directors Meeting #2 for 2026”
On May 16, 2026, the Directors of the Belize Scout Foundation gathered for their second meeting of the year at the Sir Colville N. Young Building conference room, bringing together our collective expertise and vision for the future.
The agenda focused on crucial items, including the approval of the previous meeting’s minutes, a detailed financial report, and plans for the completion and grand opening of the Sir Colville N. Young Museum.
Hilberto B. Riverol provided an insightful financial report on behalf of Mr. Roberto Harrison, the Finance and Investment Director. The report highlighted the foundation’s investment portfolio, totaling $515,300. Riverol emphasized that the interest generated each quarter is essential for funding local Scout activities and broader programs across the country, including the promising development of Camp Oakley.
Excitingly, the Sir Colville N. Young Museum—under development for the past three years—is on track for an official opening during the September celebrations. The Directors agreed that a coordinated effort is essential to a successful launch and supported a gala fundraising event hosted by the Scout Association and Foundation.
A particularly inspiring moment of the meeting was the presentation of a $1,000 grant to the 6th Corozal Methodist Scout Group for their admirable project, “Mission Grace.” This initiative is dedicated to helping elderly members of the Methodist Church attend Sunday services over three months, providing them with a nutritious breakfast afterward. Led by the Venture Scouts of the group, this project embodies our commitment to community engagement. Dr. Rene Villanueva, Chairman of the Foundation, presented the check to Mrs. Gwendolyn Monima, the Group Scout Leader, and Venture Scout Nuri Aldana, expressing the Foundation’s pride in supporting this meaningful endeavor.
