Director’s meeting 5/2023 of the Belize Scout Foundation
The Directors of the Belize Scout Foundation held their meeting 5/2023 on December 16, 2023, their final meeting for 2023.
Among other agenda items, the Directors present approved the grant program for the year 2024 that includes grants to Scout Groups in four specific areas of the Global Development Goals:
Goal 2 – End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture
Goal 6 – Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Goal 13 – Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact
Goal 14 – Protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
The grant program guidelines will be available early in January, and grant preparations and reviews will be made from January to March 2024.
The Foundation will provide oversight for project preparation for all interested Scout Groups and is hopeful that all existing Scout Groups apply for grant funds in one of the specific areas of choice.
Grant funds will be disbursed to qualifying applicants starting April 1, 2024, and ending on September 30, 2024.
The duration of any project will be one year, with the possibility of extending the project period and providing further funding to ensure viability.
