Two Small Grant Applications Receive Funding
Today, Mr. Ryan Wrobel, Secretary of the Belize Scout Foundation, presented checks of $500.00 each to two recipients of small grants from the Belize Scout Foundation.
At a short but meaningful ceremony this morning, Mr. Wrobel presented a check for $500.00 to Mr. Ricardo Alcoser, delegation leader to the Sub-Regional Cub Scout Encounter that will be held in December this year. The small grant is to assist with the purchase of delegation badges for the group participating in this event.
Also receiving a check for $500.00 was Mr. Omari Neal to assist him with expenses associated with his travel and participation at the Humanitarian Workshop hosted by the Interamerican Scout Region in the Dominican Republic from July 7 – 9.
Both Messrs. Alcoser and Neal expressed thanks for the kind assistance the Foundation gave.
Mr. Hilberto B. Riverol, Executive Director of the Foundation, gave a brief historical account of the Foundation and emphasized that grant funding opened for Groups in 2019 but unfortunately, Groups did not take advantage of this funding until this year. Funding allocated for small grants is now exhausted, just in time for the grants closing period. He said the Foundation was happy that Scout Groups finally are taking advantage of the small grants program.
Since establishing the Foundation in 1989, the Foundation has provided funding to The Scout Association for projects of over $450,000.00.
He closed by saying that he hopes to see a repeat of applications in the new grant period from January 2, 2024, to June 30, 2024.
