The Belize Scout Foundation Supports Scouts Community Garden
The Belize Scout Foundation is pleased to support the 27th Cayo Santa Elena Jaguars Scouts with a grant of $1,000.00 towards their Community Garden project, Uniting Together.
On April 22, 2021, Chairman of the Belize Scout Foundation Dr. Rene Villanueva travelled to Santa Elena in the Cayo District to present the check of $1,000.00 to the Jaguar Scouts towards their project
The project was created as a Messengers of Peace project that focusses on the issue of healthy and sustainable food options for community members that can be grown locally. The project aims to create a local garden that is cared for by the community, where they can learn the skills needed to create their own gardens. The produce once harvested will be distributed to the neediest in the community to promote healthier eating practices.
This project is a joint effort of the Jaguar Scouts, the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Child’s Advisory Board and the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Board and is led by two Venture Scouts of the 27th Santa Elena Jaguar Scout Group, Ventures Suarlin Garcia and Marcelene Gentle.
The Belize Scout Foundation wishes the Jaguar Scouts a most successful project and congratulates them for organizing this public-spirited project in their community.
