Interamerican Leadership Training Course (ILT)
July 23, 2020
The Interamerican Leadership Training is a 6-day course of leadership and team-building skills designed to improve the skill level of young Scout leaders from throughout the Interamerican Region (IAR) of WOSM.
A staff of experienced youth and adult trainers is assembled to develop and deliver a full 6-day curriculum.
At the Pilot ILT 33 National Scouting Organizations were represented with a total of 67 participants and since its inception, ILT is a proud institution holding of approximately 40 staff members each year. ILT is recognized by WOSM (World Organization of the Scout Movement) as one to its largest Youth Leadership Program.
Modeled off of The Boy Scouts of America’s National Youth Leadership Training and programs, ILT is definitely in its own class, it has grown to include the eccentric styles of the Caribbean and Latin America whilst still maintaining the core objectives of sound leadership training.
Since its inception in December 2013 ILT has grown and is seen by most as a more diverse and rounded program as the staff list ranges with members from throughout the region thus further building its uniqueness.
Another great success of ILT is that of the renowned Messengers of Peace Projects. Though underreported, these projects have had major impacts in our region as Scouts are becoming more involved in their communities and are helping to fulfill B-P’s vision of leaving the world better than we found it.
ILT is more than just a training course it is a place to be open and included in the region, it gives a chance for participants to mingle with persons of other countries, ethnicities and cultures sharing one common interest and vision: To make this world a better place.
